The 200sq.m. flat in a heart of Kyiv is a lay-over place for client’s local business trips. The nearby governmental buildings make a strong impression of cold and solid volumes with an atmosphere of constant rush and motion. That means a place had to be calm and relaxing but still with a hint of office ambience.
With a client's will for natural materials and a sense of the city, we opted for white marble, dark grey wood and soft toned textiles. Walls are mainly painted white or covered with light grey wallpapers.
Original plan with a long corridor and four separated rooms was redesigned to fit an open living room with easy access to the kitchen and entry hall, one master bedroom with a bath, an office room and a guest room.
The glass partition between a living room and a kitchen softly reflects marble textures and moooi lighting spheres. Clear surfaces are supported by small brass details on the furniture and aluminum suspended lights. Sofa and curtains are made of light beige textiles adding a bit of warmth to cold marble textures.
